Tucson Gem Shows

The Tucson Gem Show, is really many many shows going on all over the city of Tucson starting at the end of January and running into the second week of February. Most of the shows are open to the public with a few exceptions. The AGTA and the GJX shows are strickly trade only, and these are the shows where you will see the finest in cut gems. I have seen rubies here on offer for over $400,000.

This year (2024) I had the intention of talking lots of photos, but as usual, never got around to it. These first two were taken at the AGTA show, I thought these may be interesting since the vendor did have prices with the gems. These would be wholesale to the trade prices.

Gemstones are really a small part of the shows. There are hundreds of vendors with minerals, fossels, carvings, and all kinds of things. I find these fossels below kind of facinating.

Sometimes you just get sick of going to the shows, and a drive out into the mountains is a nice break. Here's some pictures on the way up and back to Windy Point. Elevation was about 6300 feet.

No trip to Tucson would be complete with out some Salsa made fresh at your table.
